Wireless for Hope


Wireless for Hope is a regional Lifeline Assistance cellular phone operator that provides free cell phones and 100 free minutes of free cell phone minutes a month.  Wireless for Hope currently operates in Arkansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, and West Virginia.  Wireless for Hope partners with local wireless carriers to provide free cell phone service in the regions the local carriers service.

Presently, Wireless for Hope is partnered with Absolute Wireless (providing service in Arkansas, Nevada, and Puerto Rico), Affordable Wireless (providing service in Louisiana), Easy Wireless (providing service in Missouri and Oklahoma) Gulf Coast Wireless (providing service in Maine, New Jersey, and West Virginia), Off the Hook Telecom (providing service in Missouri), and Surety Wireless (providing service in Maryland and Missouri).  In order to apply for a free Lifeline cell phone plan under Wireless for Hope, you must submit an application directly to one of the aforementioned telecom providers.

All successful applicants will receive a free cell phone and 100 free rollover cell phone minutes a month. Additional voice minutes can be purchased at the following rates:

Additional Voice Minutes:

  • $5 for additional 35 voice minutes
  • $10 for additional 75 voice minutes
  • $20 for additional 160 voice minutes
  • $30 for additional 270 voice minutes
  • $50 for additional 700 voice minutes

Other services included at no additional cost include free caller ID, free call waiting, and free voicemail.  No deposit, no credit check, nor are any monthly fees are required for service.


Although eligibility criteria varies by state, you most likely qualify for Wireless for Hope free cell phone service if you participate in any of the following government programs: Food stamps/SNAP, Low-Income Homey Energy Program (LIHEP), Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8), National School Lunch Program (Free Program Only), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).

You may also qualify for free cell phone service from Wireless for Hope if your total household income is at or below the poverty guidelines set by your State and/or the Federal Government (usually below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines).
