In order to qualify for Safelink Wireless service in Connecticut, you must be a participant of one of the following public assistance programs:\


  • Federal Public Housing Assistance/Section 8
  • Social Security Income (SSI)
  • Medicaid/ Title 19 (Including Husky and Healthy Start)
  • Food Stamps
  • Care for Kids
  • Connecticut Energy Assistance Program
  • CONNPACE
  • Contingency Heating Assistance Program
  • Personal Care Assistance
  • Refugee Program
  • Rental Assistance
  • State Administered Genera Assistance
  • State Supplement to the Aged, Blind, or Disabled
  • Temporary Family Assistance

If you qualify for Safelink Wireless under this method, you do not have to provide supporting documentation, but sign under oath of perjury. If you qualify under this method and the next, it is best to apply using this method, because the application is easier.

The last two requirements for qualifying for a Safelink Wireless free government cell phone in Connecticut is that only one Lifeline Assistance phone is allowed per household.
