Assurance Wireless, the fastest growing provider of free government cell phones, offers service in Utah. In order to qualify for Assurance Wireless service in Utah, you must be a participant of one of the following public assistance programs:

  • Head Start (Income Based Qualification Only)
  • Home Energy Assistance Program HEAT/Home Electric Lifeline Program (HELP)
  • Social Security Income (SSI)
  • National School Lunch (Free Program Only)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Medicaid
  • Refugee Assistance
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Food Stamps
  • Work Towards Employment

If you qualify for Assurance Wireless under this method, you do not have to provide supporting documentation, but sign under oath of perjury. If you qualify under this method and the next, it is best to apply using this method, because the application is easier.

You may also be able to qualify for Assurance Wireless if your Total Household Income is at or under 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. So if you or a household member currently subscribe to Assurance Wireless, Reachout Wireless, Safelink Wireless, or Lifeline Assistance land line, you will not qualify for a free Assurance Wireless cell phone.

The last requirement to obtain a free government cell phone Assurance Wireless is that you must apply from a valid US mailing address. No post office box may be used in your application form. Unfortunately, homeless people will have difficulty meeting this requirement.
